That's a stock tire carrier. and you need new longer/adjustable LCA's to fix that spring issue.

no that is the front drive shaft. SYEs replace the rear drive shaft with a cv style shaft and remove the slip yoke. The front is a cv style shaft from the factory.

yes the cherry bomb will pass the safety inspection whereas you have to have some sort of muffler system you know, but as far as the emissions test that is factored by numerous numerous things. there are many cheats you can do though to help it pass if it wont. the Cherry bomb will offer more flow though, which isnt as well as a stock muffler as far as emissions go. because there is minimal minimal minimal surfaces for hydrocarbons to stick to and not get tested, but on a stock muffler there are hundreds of square inches of surface that hydrocarbons will stick to.

as far as the dangly wire, every wire i have seen that looks like that deals with emissions control. look on the top of your intake manifold towards the rear. there should be an emissions sensor, i believe it is an air temp sensor, make sure it is plugged into something a connector because thats what my connector looked like and it was unplugged.

and as far as vacuum diagrams, if you have ahold of a Chiltons Repair manual (found at autozone etc) they start for the 4.0 l engine on page 4-38. those just look like the ones they took off of the airbox when they put on the cone filter

From the FSM:

Quote:
Engine vacuum is stored in the vacuum reservoir. The stored vacuum is used to operate the vacuum controlled vehicle accessories during periods of low engine vacuum such as when the vehicle is climbing a steep grade, or under other high engine load operating conditions.
