I'm a currently looking to buy and old Xj with D44 Rear. I'm gonna wanna put something better up front then the D30.
I don't think I I'll be able to find D44 Rear. My Club Pres says I can build up the D30 Front. Can someone give me more information this?

Sure you can build the 30 and put as much money into it as you want. Whether it is worth it in the end depends on what you plan to do with it and your driving style.
Stock shafts with the larger 297x u-joints will typically hold up well to 33" tires.
Alloy shafts and 760x u-joints or better and you can run 35's.
Either way carry spares.
Along with that you can
gear it
lock it
diff protect it
manual hub it
Super 30 it
sleave it
truss it

And then blow the R&P.
Blah. Up to 33's sure. I wouldn't go larger.

it means he doesnt think you can do it.
go on naxja and ask there, theres countless guys there running 35s on a 30 without much trouble. i personally know a couple close friends doing it as well who dont wheel light by any means and have been trouble free. i as well will be doing this though i have more of a light foot myself. be smart and dont wheel stupid, thats half the battle

Pull the D30 out of the jeep. Deposite it in neighbours front yard. Acquire a D44 from an 80's Grand Wagoneer.

If anyone doubts that you can build a 30 to hold up to 35's, take a look at the trail ride photos on my website and tell me that it can't be done... because I have been on 35's for over a year, I wheel it, and it HAS held up fine.
Its all how you wheel - don't just put the throttle down on everything thinking that's what you need to get through, otherwise no this won't work for you.
I'm also locked (ARBs) and in my opinion its less likely to cause R&P breakage because you have less tire spin. (see comments above...) With open diffs when you are spinning tires a lot and then suddenly they catch and get traction is what hurts.
That being said, I think if you want to build a 30... AT LEAST find a HP 30. They are a direct swap and you'll be much better off in the end.
