when you say shims are you talking about differential/ angle shims or shims between leafs?
also can anyone tell me what will or will not fit from a wagoneer steering/suspension wise?

Hey guys, I was wondering.... Can i put 84-90 XJ double headlight bezels on a 91-96 XJ with singles? I wanna fill the bezels holes with offroad lights but idk if the dimensions are the same. Not gunna change the front end to the older style just the plastic bezel.

just saw your post...
shims refer to the piece below the leafs that changes the angle of axle to leaf. not the thin material between leafs which help with friction.
i'm not aware of any Waggy parts that will fit directly. never looked into it though.

noted, i pulled the sway bar links out of the waggy, they are way longer than the stock xjs and im gonna use them to make homemade disconnects similar to the jks quick discos, but the links may have been fabbed up by the previous owner... dont know if that helps anyone

2.8l V6's Don't have 4.10s. Both of my 86s had 3.54s, they were both automatics.

Last v6 I saw had 3.73 gears. I counted the teeth.

Could have been. The v6 had a 5speed more often than the 4.0 it seems.

In regard to the 83-97 thunderbird coils, are they the fronts or the rears?

For the thunderbird coils, you need the fronts. They are a pain in the *** to get off too

I was just gonna buy a brand new set for about 60 shipped if they work. Looking for a 2-4" lift overall, and want to be nice to my wallet.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend it.
You need to grab the top plate of the strut, because the coils are too large in diameter at the top to seat correctly on our XJ's. It would be easier for you to grab them from a junk yard for $10-15 each with that plate versus $60. Also, the old ones will be used already, and will have settled; whatever height you get when you install them is what they're going to stay at. The new coils would provide 0.5-1'' higher than what they will eventually settle to I believe.
However, if you do decide to buy the new coils, you will need to fab an adapter plate for the top of the coil.
Not trying to dissuade you at all, just thought I would provide some information.
Goodluck with whatever you choose, and post some pics when you get them installed. We all like XJ pron here

I was going to look this part up so I could get a price at the local Pull A Part, but didn't find a listing. Could it go by another name? Would a GMC 2500 have them too, or just the 1500's?

gjarreau, I looked at the entire Pull A Part price listing, and the shackles aren't listed. They shouldn't charge you more than $15 or so for both.

You can use the REAR stock shocks from the S10 when you pull the leafs. There was a set of Rancho RSX on the '85 blazer that I got mine from, They gave a nice ride too!
