Brake pad & Rotor replacement help on a '97

Hey everybody. This is my first post of this forum. I purchased my first Jeep today - a 1997 Cherokee Sport. I've already put a few miles on it and it seems like a very fun, reliable vehicle.

Tomorrow, I'll be heading over to the auto parts store to pick up some new brake pads and rotors for the front end. I looked around a little bit, but couldn't find much specificity when it came to brands.

I don't plan to take this Jeep off-roading. I bought it to get to college and back, so it will stay on the road. The winters here are sometimes bad too, so I needed something that would go in the snow.

With that being said, can someone reccommend a specific brand and/or model of brake pads and rotors?

I've read that the stock rotors wear out easily, so I was thinking of buying something a little heavier. What do you guys think? And for the pads, semi-metallic or ceramic?

Thank you for your help.

Jimmy

EDIT: I didn't think to mention before, but the store I usually go to is Advance Auto Parts. They order their parts directly from Parts America.

I go these: Brake pads
And these: Rotors

I would have done something better, but these are what they stock and I had to have them. Bad brakes were one of the reasons I got a deal on the XJ and they had gone WELL past their expiration.

The brand of brake parts you purchase doesn't really matter much. You for sure don't need the super expensive "premium" brake parts.

Brakes usually are available by price level (quality). The most inexpensive parts make lots of noise and dust and usually don't last more that a year or two. Their performance is barely acceptable.

The higher price standard replacement parts will be quieter, cleaner and last longer. Their performance will be like the original equipment or better. The previous owner of my 2000 had the brakes done at the dealership with about 35,000 miles and at 95,000 miles they are still good.

I always buy my brake parts at NAPA and get the best quality standard replacement parts they carry.
