brake lights will not work
I have a 1993 jeep cherokee and the brake lights stopped working on me when I was on a trip from CA to AZ. The running lights still work, just not the brake lights. I have checked fuses, light bulbs and even hooked up my uncles circuit tester to see what was going on and we were getting no signal on brake lights but getting a positive on the running. I have no idea what the issue is and co-worker recommended I check here before I take it into a shop. Nothing worse then paying $200 for something could have cost $20.

check the firewall block to the fuse death got to this 92....your signals and brakes are supplied by one wire as well the 4way/hazards...park is fed from another supply..

to fix my buddys 92 i just drilled out the contact pins and fed a new wire through the hole, you could silicone it to seal...spliced it into the original wires..

If your turn signals and brake lights are the same bulb (American Style), the brake lights go through the hazard switch. Try activating it a couple of times, that usually solves the issue.

Ah brake switch above your feet maybe? Jumper power from the 16PK/BK (fused +12V) to the 18WT/TN (brake light bulbs) and see if they work.

Still trying to figure this out. Brake light switch has no power. No power at rear lights as well. I have power at the fuses. The hazards also don't work and the turns stoped working. I wonder if my problem lies in the turn signal switch

Also noticed that the powers seats don't work and neither does the horn.

Well on a Cherokee the brake lights don't go through the turn switch. I'm thinking the bulkhead connector/fuse box as suggested by mj40 above is most likely where your problem is. I've seen water get in it and corrode away the terminals.

I removed the power relay centre and everything looked good and had power. I'm trying to trace wires from the in car fuse panel. The brake light fuse has no power.

fuses # 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,14,23,24 and 28 dont have power. This is really staring to stump me.

zjroughrider 02-15-2013 03:18 PM

sorry 5 has power

The bulkhead connector is right behind the under dash fuse box. Two screws hold it to the firewall and one bolt holds the underhood part to the under dash part.

The time now is 05:21 PM.
