Bought a new 2000 XJ sport-So, how did I do?

Well, of all places, I stumbled across a semi local 2000 Cherokee Sport, 93,000 Miles on Ebay.Terrible pictures and a description that was lacking to say the least, a clean car fax, so I figured since it was only 17 miles away I would take a chance and bid on it...Put in a $3,902 bid and awaited the end of the auction (figured I would get outbid as high mileage units go for more). Much to my surprise, I WON . So yesterday morning the wife and I head down to do the paperwork and drive it home, much to our surprise it's quite clean, with 99.9% of it's original paint, stop off to get it inspected (only needed a right rear wheel cylinder) and a quick change of fluids and a lube....Rides well, regardless of it's three previous owners, well kept, factory undercoated, and everything but the drivers side power window (it has to be manually stopped after it goes down or the motor continues to churn) works flawlessly. So, the question I have is, how did I do? Been a long time since I sold my original 95 Sport, been playing around with CJ's and Wranglers since then.....My plan for this one is to keep it fairly stock and give it to my son once he gets his full license (another 6 months)..Attached is a pic I took this morning after a quick cruise out to Ace Hardware for some much needed (or so I believe) icemelt ....Again, anything I need to look at, let me know. Same goes for anything that I should double or triple check. So far no codes have been blown, so I believe I did good but will wait to hear from you guys....

Thanks in advance,

Bill S.

I just put rims and tires on my XJ, but before that it looked identical to yours. I think you made out awesome! I paid $4200 for mine two years ago with just under 120k on the clock. It was a one owner car (female school teacher) and was never off road. I thought I made out awesome, but you got a lower mileage car and paid less. Good job!
By the way, I have never loved a DD more than I love my XJ. It's roomy, comfortable, goes just about anywhere I want to go, gets descent gas mileage and is somewhat quick for what it is. You'll love it.

You robbed the seller!!! Good find. I paid almost $6000 for my '99, though its was one owner with new tires and ARE wheels, in awesome condition. I didn't feel like I got screwed too bad, UNTIL NOW!!!!

I bought my 97 XJ in 2004 with 83K on it for $4K It was from Colorado the second owner bought it from a GSA auction with 66K on it in 2000. It was a FBI jeep. It has the Department of Justice asset tag in the door. I just turned 153K

i'd say that was a good buy. The window is probably a simple fix.

It will be, of that I'm sure. As for your location, I just moved out of WML (Exit 37, hint, hint ) after 11 years as I got tired of the high taxes and fiasco off Green Pond Road

Now instead of Just Jeepin in NJ, I'm Just Jeepin in PA

A couple months ago, I picked up a 2000 XJ Sport with 110K miles for $3700. It has a couple dents, but everything mechanical was perfect.

Simplest way to fix it is to replace the regulator/motor assembly. Going to call the local dealer and see what "my" cost is on it...Should not be much.......

I picked up my 99 4dr. sport for $1650, I kind of felt bad for "stealing" it. It didn't run due to a bad CPS... after they replaced nearly everything on the car and not fixing it they bought a new car and sold me the XJ for a steal thinking it needed a million dollars to fix it. I put the new CPS on it after the title was in my name. IN THERE DRIVEWAY. and drove it home... gotta love the non educated!
