best way to get window tint glue off?

I tried windex, pb blaster they work kinda but not that great.. And this stuff STINKS!!!! I got most of the tint off minus a few small areas where the 2 layers seperated.... Any tips to get the gunk off i know the rest of the film i just need a straight razor and be careful on the defrost lines... if the defrost line gets cut only once is it still ok?

amonia works great. and if you nick one of the defroster lines it will still work, just not that one line. but you can get conductive paint and repair it.

Windex with ammonia will make it loosen and turn into balls of goo when you scrape it with a razor blade.

A straight razor and soapy water solution. That is what the tint shop around here does when they take old tint off. Spray the solution on, and very slowly scrap the glue off. Works really well.

Are you taking it off to go darker or just taking it off?

When I had to take 14yr old tint off my 300zx my brother whom tints for a living suggested goo gone and a straight razor..yep..took it right off tint and glue so you don't have to do one and then the other. Works magic.

Didn't mean that "straight razor". An actual razor blade, the "old school" ones. Those work like a charm and are easy to control. Like I said, the tint shops around here use this method.

HD single edge, meant for use in a scraper is best. The double edge blades will snap and cut you before you know it. Either throw it away after you've finished or tape the edge, cause if you don't and just toss it in your toolbox it'll get you sooner or later.

I'll second the lighter fluid/naphtha suggestion. It'll dissolve plastic.

Aren't the straight razor's gonna tear up all his defroster lines? I just coat it with window cleaner and rub it off with a window rag. Took awhile but I didn't damage any defroster lines.
