Best Front Springs?

Hey guys my cherokee has a 3.5 " lift and the i've done quite a bit to make it really travel well. but now my problem is the front springs come dislocated when the wheels drop or articulate, they drop from the insulators up to 2-3 inches!
I need a spring that is 3.5-4.5 inches of lift but is longer with no weight, will a set of zj springs help me? Do any of you have springs that fixed this?

Any advice would help thanks!

The ZJ coils will likely be shorter than yours, just stiffer. I would suggest using limiting straps set to where the coils can't come off the bumpstops. It is common for them to lower off the isolaters at full droop.

Ya thats what I was thinking

Sometimes when I come out of a full drop the spring seems to get caught on the bump stop or something and kindof smack back into place, its really loud and quite a jolt sometimes.

Would I wrap a limiting strap through the top of the spring and bolt it to the wheel well? Then if thats the only thing holding the axle up could the axle drop from the spring, then not reset, that would suck. Does some one make or have made heavy duty lower spring holders?
Thanks guys

If your retainer on the axle is holding the coil spring, then so long as your not drooping so much as the top of the spring cleares the bottom of the bumpstop. you are fine.

A limiting strap bolts to the axle and the "frame" and will only allow so much down travel. Here is one example :

What springs do you have in it now. I know Rubicon express uses a relatively stiff and short spring for their 3.5" lift (250 lbs/inch or so) and that rustys coils are 150, so they should be a bit longer. Here is a list of compaineis and their spring rates, the same lift with less spring rate, will be a longer spring.
Coil Springs:
BDS 3" XJ coil 240lbs/inch

RE 3.5" XJ coil 241 lbs/inch
RE 4.5" XJ coil 169 lbs/inch
RE 5.5" XJ coil 185 lbs/inch
RE 4.5" ZJ coils are 240 lb/in. give 5.5" ish of lift on an XJ ???

Rustys 3" XJ standard coil 150 lbs/inch
Rustys 3" XJ Heavy Duty coil 180 lbs/inch
Rustsy 4.5" XJ coil 150 lbs/inch
Rustsy 6.5" XJ coil 150 lbs/inch
Rustys 9" XJ coil 180 lbs/inch

OME 930 XJ coil 160 lbs/inch ~2"
OME 934 ZJ coil 180 lbs/inch
Old Man Emu coil springs (A)= Driver side (B)= Passenger side

DPGXJ5 DPG Trailgunner 5" coils = 198lbs/in.

Rockkrawler 6.5" are 165 lbs/in

Rancho 3" coils, at least the old coils give about 2 1/4" of lift on an XJ and have a very high 235 lb/in rate.

Sky Jacker 3" ZJ coils 218 lbs/in ~4" on a XJ

OEM is supposedly 147 lb/in rate.
OEM ZJ with 4.0 is supposedly 190 lb/in rate front and rear.

Tera 4" TJ coils give 4.5" of lift on an XJ and have a 200 lb/in rate , 20.25" tall unloaded
Tera 3" TJ coils give 3.5" of lift on an XJ and have a 170 lb/in rate

Last summer I came across a ZJ on the trail with one front coil lying on the ground. His axle drooped in a hole and the coil fell out. So it is a good idea to tie the coils to the axle or at least have a limit strap.

Conversely, since he had so much slack in his suspension all we had to do to put the coil back was just jack up the frame and put the coil back.

I just got Rusty's springs and I think there awesome. Great ride onroad, and pretty flexy on the little stuff I've messed around on here and there.

I have old ruff county springs on it now, Rusty's sounds like the best for new springs, Thanks a lot for all the responses.
