bearing in air conditioning compressor

Has anyone ever taken apart the air conditioning compressor. My buddy thinks my bearing is shot or close to it.It's has a annoying humming noise coming from it. I don't want to have to replace the whole assembly. I went the local parts store and he said past 91' the didn't sell the bearing separately. I tried the nearest Jeep dealer and the parts guy said the only way would be to take out the bearing and get a part# off of it. I'm trying to avoid that...does anyone know a part # for the bearing in the a/c compressor? Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks/Trev
P.S I've got a 97 JGC Laredo 5.2L V8-318

First your posting in the wrong forum. But the dealership should be able to get the part number for you, if they can't it is not available seperate, it is the whole a/c compressor assembly.
