Battery Cables
So, Jeep wants 110 for the Battery cable that has the two grounds, and runs to the starter solenoid. The tops of my cable are corroded and would rather replace them 92 xj. Is there an aftermarket supplier? Is there a heavier duty part, does anyone have a reccomendation for this problem...
Looking for answer... Joe

110 dollars....US dollars? Oh my god, make your own. You should be able to do so for about $30 of materials. Just get a bunch of heavy gauge wire and connectors from your preferred auto parts store. I don't think it would be mush different from the ones I made for my Dad's '84 GMC Suburban 4X4 (6.2 Diesel baby!)

I know that you can purchase cable sets at Autozone and Napa as well. Check their websites for prices. Dont buy stuff from the dealer unless you absolutly have to when a parts store doesnt have it! Good luck man!

You can make your own from heavy duty 2/0 welding or battery cable very easily. I did that on my '90...I got an extra volt on my volt meter, the starter turned faster, the headlights were brighter, and the windows rolled up and down faster.

If yours is like mine (95), the cable that goes from the battery to the starter has another wire as part of the mount that attaches to the starter. They are not seperate. Thus, I could find no one but the dealer that sells it. Your best bet is to make it yourself or just bite the bullet and buy it from the dealer.
I have all the parts (I think) to do it myself but I haven't done it yet. I'll be using #2 wire though not 2/0. 2/0 may be better but it's like running a garden hose and since I'm going to upgrade each of the cables, that's a lot of garden hose in a small space. Good Luck.

If you don't feel like making your own heavy duty cable set, you can pay $20 less than what the dealer wants for the standard replacement and buy the one at Jeepers and Creepers. I think Jeepin.com has a review of them.
