Bastard Pack with old 3" leaf pack?

Has anyone tryed this? Im looking to buy a 4.5" aal kit and combine it with my 3" leaf pack to get the lift I need in the back. Or should I just buy some 1.5" shackles?

If your 3" pack has arch left in it, go with lift shakles. More flex, better ride.

i agree with balloo. with an AAL you will sag your packs very fast and your ride will be much rougher. go with the shackle if your packs are in good condition.

Also do the 4.5" RE kits really not include shocks? Im hoping shocks from a 3" lift will suffice?

well some places sell them with shocks and some places sell the kit without shocks. i would recommend buying the kit from jason at jeepinoutfitters because of our discount and free shipping. as far as your old shocks go it all defpends on what shocks you are running right now.

I have found another site which also ships free and they include a set of shocks which more than makes up for the discount. Right now Im running 3" rusty's shocks and they have plenty of life left in them.

Depending on your budget, you can run the shocks you have with some Rocky Road Outfitters BPE's until you have the green to get a nice set of shocks.

About $45 for a front/rear set.

Maybe, I already have a 3" lift and after a little research it turns out buying and aal kit would cost about the same as buying all the components I need to bump it up to 4.5" individually(control arms, trac bar, spacers, shackles, shocks).

But wether or not I can actually afford it right now depends on how much my summer classes and books end up costing me.

Theres always christmas and birthdays.

The budget is tight (why I would buy the aal instead of full pack) the upgrade may or may not be possible immediately but Im just playing around with different set ups to figure out what is the best and most cost efficient.

Try to make your own out of Toyota Tacoma springs. You should end up with about 4.5 - 5.0 inches of lift with that setup.......If thats too much you can use Dakota springs just to get 3-3.5 inches. Always use your original master leaf and cut the eyes off the new springs and use a new center pin, available from RE, also new U bolts.

if i was you i would just wait until you have the cash and get the full packs in the rear if your just going to be going with the RE kit. you will love the setup and the ride compared to the AAL.
