Jeep Wagoneer axles from I believe 86-91 are Dana 44 drivers drop and correct width. They are set up for leaf springs so you will need to have the leaf pads removed then the LCA/UCA, track bar, and coil spring brackets welded on. RE makes a kit with all the brackets that you need, unfortunately it costs $379. Wagoneer axles are low pinion. If you want a high pinion (stronger r&p and better drive shaft angle) then you want a Ford F250 Dana 44. Have it narrowed to same width as Wagoneer D44 and then you can run stock Wagoneer innner shafts. Chevy and Dodge Dana 44 are passenger side drop and low pinion. The other issue is lug pattern. None of them are 5 x 4.5. with is the stock XJ pattern. You will either have to change the rear to match your new front and then buy new wheels. Or you can use wheel adapters to get the 5x4.5 pattern. Or lastly you can run Dodge hubs which in certain years had the 5 x 4.5 lugs. If you are planning on running 15" wheels then you need to be aware that they will not clear most jeep or ford disc brake calipers. They will usually clear chevy single piston calipers. I want to do this swap myself this winter so I've been reading up on it. A good site for Dana 44 axle swap info is: http://77cj.littlekeylime.com/web_rs44.html good luck.

you will find that 90% of the peolple on here will respond to you like they did to me when i asked this same question:
leave the front, the way it is, just spend the money and upgrade, regear with good component and a locker, and upgrade the axleshafts and finally convert to crossover steering or hi steering if avaialbe (havent confirmed that yet.) the 30 is plenty strong in most applications so you should be ok; but i hear you, my ultimate plan is to get myself front and rear dynatrac like rearends. i wish to build my own but i need to wait till i get a garage and welder
