AW4 manual shifting

I read something a while back about a guy who made a rotary switch that would configure the TCU to manually control which gear the transmission was in. It was a lot like the 1-2 gear selection except he took it a little farther for all the gears and a torque converter lock switch. I tried contacting him but got no response. Anyone know about this kind of thing? I could build something on my own but I don't know which wires do what. Need to figure out which wires control which solenoids and which solenoids need to be on/off for each gear.

I've seen this done on a 4l30E gm (BMW) transmission thats completely electronically controlled. I didn't read the pdf's you gave, but if the AW4 is completely electronic you can do what you ask...just have to find the right signals that need to be sent. IIRC some company makes ECUs for trannys to do just that.

I am in the Process of doing the same, instead of having it control all the gears I am only doing low range 1-2, here are some links I found Helpful.

Here Is a post Showing the Pinout For an "89" TCU dont know if they will be the same for the 2 years or not.

In Link 2 it Recommends using a Diode inline so Power will Flow From The Switch to The TCU. This Is in case Of inductive loads I believe on the Solenoid so power cannot flow back into the system causing problems. I am wondering the Current Rating on the Diode to use any one have any Ideas on this?

Good Luck  Ill Post Some Pics On another Post as soon as I finish the Mod. have to remember my web hosting password :D
