ok so i swapped the ax15 with good 4.0 98 xj into a 2000 aw4 with blown 4.o // everything basically is set up but the nss bypass... it is pretty clear what needs to be done with that... what about the clutch safety switch...is that used or do i disregard that since the nss is being set up and that will bypass the css?

I did this swap to my 96 and i disregarded the Clutch saftey switch and it hasn't given me any problems. And one other thing i am not sure if it mentioned in this write up is Reverse light on and Aw-4 they come on through the Nss But the Ax-15 has it on set of wires that run to wiring harness. For mine when i got the tranny out the junk yard i cut the wire off the harness in the junk yard that runs down the pass side and connects to the a set of wire on the side of the tranny. Since i bypassed the Nss conecting the 2 wires together i thought that if i connected the Ax-15 reverse light wire to the Nss wire that make the revese lights come on i Believe that is was A and E on the connector and it works great.

well i am using the harness that went with the 98 manual and 4.o // so i guess the reverse lights are hooked in as we set that up the other day... the jeep still is not starting though....i got power, but i wont crank or turn over... exactly like the clutch is not pushed in...the wiring at the clutch is not together...if i connect the two wires at the clutch will it work, or do i need to use the NSS bypass to fake out the starter? thats what i think im gonna try next time i get to the garage? any comments?

you need to bypass the NSS or trick it into thinking its always in N or something, kinda sounds like your problem if you havent touched it

Hi guys, i just finished this conversion a couple weeks ago. I am having some issues and was looking for some advice. The first problem is that when i down shift and then put the tranny in neutral the engine wants to stall unless i hit the throttle and then it idles fine. I saw someone else with this problem earlier in the forum and he was able to fix it but did not say how. The other problem is i am getting tranny codes, so i unplugged my tcm. No i am getting p1698 which is tcm not working code. Is there a way of tricking the pcm to think the tcm is connect, with out replacing the ecm with a manual one. My bigges problem is when i go to get my jeep inspected it will fail because of the check engine light on.
Thanks all |
