Got tired of waiting. Also hearing that they made their prototype with crappy aftermarket "stock-replacement" axles, then realized it didn't fit a completely stock rear end doesn't reassure me at all. Sooooo I went with the tried and true no-slip for the rear. One day I'll probably get an Aussie for the front since everyone likes them so much.

lol @ this. i love the 8.25" rear. its crazy beef. i planned on upgrading my 27 to a 29 but locker options made it too much $ to be worthwhile. aussie really is missing on this one.
so i got a D44, and and put an aussie in it. |

It's true. Everyone and their mother with a 29sp 8.25 would have an aussie if they would just make the damn thing. They already have the concept, they just have to make it fit the diff, how hard is that??

Well on that note... Anybody know where the cheapest place to get a No-Slip would be??

Thanks for bringing this thread back.
I spoke with the president of Aussie the other day and the parts are almost ready to go. Should only be a few more weeks. I will be the first to have them so if anyone wants an email when they are in my hand and tested send me a pm or email to ryan@bluedogjeep.com |

Would anyone happen to know the specific differences in design (if any) between an Aussie, and Lock right? It seems to me that all of these lunch box lockers have essentially the same design with perhaps a slightly different variation in spring rate, metal composition, hardware...ect.
I guess I'm just wondering why there has been so much hype about the Aussie when other options exist out there?

Here it is right from Aussielocker.com
The most significant differences are: Principal of operation “Aussie Locker” uses a dynamic camming mechanism to stay locked. We use a proprietary design process that ensures that the cam area is not only designed to the tightest tolerances but is also repeatable in high volume machining processes. A competitor’s locker uses interlocking teeth and large springs to stay locked Mechanical Design “Aussie Locker” uses approximately half the parts due to a simpler design. It uses fewer parts than any automatic locker on the market today. Fewer parts equal higher reliability. Case “Aussie Locker” uses the original carrier Smoothness of operation Drive one and you will be able to tell which vehicle has an “Aussie Locker” Degree of sensitivity to unlocking “Aussie Locker” can be unlocked with 1 finger due to the use of 1 high quality bias spring. The locking mechanism is dynamic rather than controlled by large springs Amount of backlash “Aussie Locker” has approximately half the backlash (none in the driving teeth) The cost “Aussie Locker” is more affordable. Compare our pricing to any locker on the market today. Installation “Aussie Locker” can be installed by almost anyone The competitors’ locker requires an expensive specialist and special tools Time to install We have found that most vehicle owners can do it themselves in an hour or two Warranty The manufacturer of the “Aussie Locker” provides a two year limited warranty. See the warranty for full details Installation documentation “Aussie Locker” comes with detailed installation instructions I have driven and installed both the popular Lock-right and Aussie lockers. The aussie is bigger in most cases and has much less backlash in the teeth. There has never been a broken Aussie locker. |

Looks like a few more weeks. The broach is made and should have the cam gears fixed in a week. Then they need to be shipped from Australia to here. Then I need to do a install to make sure it all works well before we can sell any to you.
