ARB Wiring Loom Trouble

Here's the story:

I ordered IPF lenses and Fatboys for my '99. The order was put on hold pending a new lense shipment. In the meantime I thought I would get started on the wiring. I just finished installing the new wire harness, but I have a problem. When I click on the high beams they will not go back to low unless I turn off the lights completely.

Could it be the stock bulbs or bad relays?

I guess I'll just go change my fluids for now...

Does anyone know where I can get replacement relays? They seem to be some sort of secret australian relay not to be shared with the rest of the known world.

part number is AR274 at NAPA, and R683 at Pep-boys (i think).

I have two spares if you want to buy them. Both unused. I bought 2 locally at different places, then found 2 online for the same price as 1 locally, and as i was buying other harness parts from the same online store, i got another 2 Bosch relays. And apparently you can't return relays to most stores, so i have 2 extras now.

It took me all last night to research the relays. Thanks CDX74 for the tip. I went to two NAPAs and a Carquest today and have now replaced all three relays.

I still have the same problem! This is driving me nuts!

I plan to disassemble the whole mess tomorrow and start over.

I'm still open to any suggestions...

Figured it out!!!

It was the fog light relay!

I was going through some tests this morning and I heard the fog light relay clicking along with the headlights. I took it out and the headlights now switch properly.

Now...

How do I wire up the fog lamps without that relay?

I think I'm just gonna take a break, wait for my lenses to arrive, and worry about the fog lamps another time. Guess I'll be making another thread when I cross that bridge.

Do you have stock foglights ? If so you are getting a backfeed from them . You can pull the foglamp relay OR what I did was to ground the extra wire coming out of the stock drivers side high beam socket that goes to the fog lamp cut-off relay . Everything works except my fogs stay on with highs , but that's a plus for me .
