lots of noise/skipping.

97 xj
44 front, detroit, alloyed
60 rear, detroit, 35 spline alloyed
35" beadlocked km2's
3" midarmed
more bells and whistles than you can shake a stick at

Is a transfer case easy to open up and diagnose? Like check the chain and look for messed up bearings?

somewhat time consuming, but not too hard. If you're just popping open the case for an inspect you could probably do it in about 2-3 hours start to finish.
