When I installed my lift I added an RC track bar with the tie rod end. Unfortunately I had trouble removing the old one and ultimately had to drill through the bracket in order to install the new tie rod end so now that hole is a bit wallowed out. I knew I should have removed the bracket before attacking it with the drill.

IRO sells a kit to convert a track bar to double shear BUT they say that the two ends of the track bar need to be in the same plane. As far as I can tell, the RC track bar's ends are at least very close to the same plane, but I don't know if they are exact.

Has anyone done this?

I have a 3" lift but this is just a job site jeep, no wheeling. I could probably get away without double shear but I hate replacing broken things with more stock parts.

I do know that the threads for the IRO part will work with the end of the RC bar, I'm just not confident the RC bar ends are on the same plane.

For anyone who stumbles along this thread in the future: I went ahead and upgraded to the Iron Rock Offroad adjustable double shear track bar. When I pulled the RC bar and mount out I had a look to see whether the RC bar would have worked with the IRO joint and bracket. It looked close but there is something funny about that RC bar's bend.

Long story short, I would not try to adapt an RC track bar to double shear using IRO's kit. The IRO track bar, adjustable and double shear, including bracket, is less than $200 new.
