Anybody with cowl hood?

I've found a manufacturer for steel cowl hoods and I'm considering installing one. I'm just curious if they are worth the effort to evacuate heat out of engine compartment. It's a 2 inch rise and I think it looks good.

Any comments are very welcome.

Dave

Ive only ever seen 3 on XJs, one is on Aaron's XJ http://genxj.com and the other was on a silver rig, and one on an ebay rig.

Dave.
That is really good looking alright. However, in my experience, the cowl is used for air intake, not heat evacuation. I don't know how hard (or rewarding) it would be to connect your breather up to the cowl, and for heat evacuation, just get a good hood from the bone-yard and cut louvres into the surface of it.

Hmmm, true dat. I realllllly like the cowl hood. I checked out the other one posted above and it looks good, too. It'll all depend on the budget and budget master (wife) next year.

I like the look of that very clean. I don't see why you also couldn't user that hood with a vent system on it aswell. I think that would work and look just fine.

That hood does look nice , but like said earlier, a cowl is for air induction. To evac air, I recommend buying hood vents. Eric sold a bunch of us those Lebaron Turbo vents that should work really well.

LeBaron vents

It's a little messy from the cutting but cleaned up just fine.
