ANOTHER 99 XJ build

yep, here comes another one. I will be putting on my lift, rims, and tires this weekend. I have a black 99 XJ sport. Will be putting on a RE 3.5" SF with 32s and chrome cragar soft 8s (everyone seems to have the black ones, i figured i would be different). I saw in another XJ thread where someone posted the torque requirements for various bolts, which is very helpful information. Is there anything else like this i may run across that i will need to know before i start this weekend? My buddy works for a local garage, so we will have a lift and air tools to hopefully make the job a bit easier. ill be sure to take plenty of pics a long the way. Wish me luck!

Do 32's fit pretty good on the RE 3.5 lift or do you have to bumpstop it?

Regearing at all? I just threw 235/75/15s on with cragar soft 8s and it almost feels like I need to regear with just that. Stopping is noticeably worse.

good luck on the lift. A times i was ready to take a crowbar to my XJ and thoughts of just giving up. If it gives you the trouble it gave me, just suck it up, youll get through eventually.

i also plan on trimming the fenders and adding some bumpstops. for now im going to stick with stock gears. Hopefully within the next couple months ill pick up some 4.56's and a SYE.

After reading your thread, millhousenator, ive kinda put it in my head that a lot more will go wrong and it will take longer So hopefully ive mentally prepared myself for it.

I just finished soaking everything in PB blaster, so hopefully i wont have to cut any bolts, but it seems like for the most part people end having too.

TOMORROW IT BEGINS

$20 angle grinder from ace solved many problems. Be prepared to buy one, you may need it if you dont already have one. But each lift is different. I was lucky to break no shock mount bolts.

Good luck man, and have fun with it!

well, a case of beer and 7.5 hours later, the lift is on!! It looks great!! i havent got the fenders trimmed yet. Theres some minor rubbing when the wheel is turned all the way, but its not bad at all. ill trim the fenders a couple inches and shell be good to go. Im too tired to put the pictures up, ill do it tomorrow.
