Alt problem? or new problem?

alright guys so i got my alt tested yesterday and its dead so im going to replace that and the serp belt today. hopefully it wont take too long.

but this morning when i drove to school my car is idoling at about 1k rpm's and will hold 25mph without me pushing on the skinny pedel. is this due do my alt giving no power or is this a new problem?

Seriously though, I forgot to post what to check.
This was happening in my Camaro and in my friends Saturn, and both times we cleaned out the IAC = sensor and that brought the idle back to normal.
Don't know how this will translate to a jeep, but hope it helps.
