air intake modifications

Where's the search feature.?? I need some ideas to mod the air intake, stalled several times due to water temp. choking engine. $350 for a snokel kit, must be a better alternative. Sorry I know this must have been discussed before.

ive seen people make snorkel's out of plumbing pipe and just integrate it onto the factory air box
