You have to measure yours. Different option packages used different sizes. Use a caliper or micrometer. Or, you can try to gauge it by putting a 22-28mm metric open end wrench on it.

Holy **** Batman!

The OP is asking the exact same question I asked a couple months ago in another thread and then I got flamed by several people for asking such a stupid question. Several people told me (very rudely) that all XJs came with same sway bar and the package didn't matter.

I thought I'd read years ago that the package matters and determines the sway bar size. I was right.

Well good for Tim for answering this. Thanks. Much appreciated!

Do you think tow package XJs have thicker swaybars? In any case, I can just measure, now that I know there is a reason to.

Thanks again Tim.

IIRC rear sway bars are the same an all XJs (if it was equipped with one from the factory), but there are a couple different diameters for the front sway bar.

I've had the thickest one an all of my XJs, and seems to me all the XJs sold here in Finland have had the 28mm version. I've seen a couple import models that came with the thinner ones.

My stock rear sway bar was removed. The best mod I've ever done. Much softer on road ride (when a bump hits only on side of XJ), much better articulation off road, and it corners almost as well as.

My stock front sway bar is to stiff. I'm going to replace it with a Currie Anti-Rock adjustable front sway bar. It has 5 adjustments for different levels of stiffness from firm to soft, and 3 medium settings to choose from.

I had a Currie AR on an LJ in the past. Really nice. I ran it on softest setting on and off road and it was great.
