98 xj no gauges

the other day the gauges all dropped out, they would randomly comes back on while driving and quickly go out again, next day i had no problems? read about the connections to the cluster so i pulled it all apart and looks good so plugged it back in. if it continues to do it what else can i look out for?

The instrument cluster connectors pins and pin cavities may look good but you may need a replacement connector - that was covered by a Chrysler TSB. The connector kit is available from your Chrysler dealer.

anyway to tell if it already has it? i just remember the plugs being green and clean. whats different about the upgraded part.

The upgraded connector has improved pin cavities that grip the cluster connector pins better.

hmm i didnt have a no bus displayed but the airbag light was on. hopefully unplugging it re connecting it does the job dont really want a hack job wiring some other plugs in.

Probably a short. Are you blowing a 15 amp fuse under the hood?

nope, no fuses blown, it has only done it once and the gauges dropped in and out a few times
