Really dig this build, my next mod is going to be the cowl intake! I found 3in spectre air tubing at my local parts store. Did you just drill a hole in the firewall and pop it through, thats it? Your doing great work, I would go crazy on jcr's website if I had the $. Keep it up man!

Hey thanks .... Yea that specter tube is a good way to go. When I did it I used PVC and that tub, which was good, but if I did it again I would just use the tub. You can spray that tub with under coating just to help prevent cracks. And yea, just a 3 inch drill hole in the cowl and your in. Make sure you go far enough over because your wiper motor is right there.

Thanks for the tips I appreciate it big time! At the parts store they also have the 3in tubing mounting brackets. Basically you bolt the bracket to the air box or firewall then the 3in spectre air tube slips over the bracket. Then I just need to cap off the front of the air box. What did you use for sealing everything, would rtv ultra black work?

Yea no prob at all, the cowl snorkel works really well and sounds good too.

I just used silicon that come in the caulking tube, then cut a piece of plastic the size on the hole and silicon'ed it in.

Just to see how it would look and fit, I put the mj tailgate up to the jeep today, it fits perfect. I think I'm going to use CJ tailgate hinges, but I'm waiting to get a rear bumper first, so it all fits right.

This is an old pic from when I rebuilt the head, found it on a old camera. New springs & stuff, w/ LS1 valves . The head was milled 0.0025 of an inch. That's a purdy picture.

I really don't to be honest, however I did drop at least an inch in the front when I put it on.

I put a JCR bumper on my buddy's XJ with him (the one on the first page of my build thread) and I can say that the JCR bumper was WAY more beast than the ARB bumper. It was a lot tough, stronger, heaver, better mounting and sure take a huge hell of a hit.

The ARB bumper is really awesome, I love the look, but I see how people who seriously crawl don't like them because a good hit would put a nice dent in that thing, and the mounting that comes with it kinda sucks. As far as hard core goes it gets like a 4 out of 10. it maybe weighs 75-80 lbs at very most, maybe not even that much. But I still like it a lot, it would be my first choice again if I had to get another XJ .. I do like the rigid bumper too, that would maybe be my second choice.

Thats a pretty awesome idea....

how does it fit up as far as the glass is concerned? do they overlap? ie is it as simple as cutting off the bottom of the hatch and making the seam look nice?
or were you planning on chopping the whole back of the xj anyway?
