98 Green XJ - Daily Driver Build

Well this jeep need some work …

Not much done so far but I thought I would just start this now anyway.

The first fix, 3.5 re lift with some JK rims and tires. Stock JK tires are 255/75/R17, so about a 32”. I’m going to stick with the tires for now, until I need new ones, and work on some other stuff.

I need to run an adapter to 5x5 to have the lugs fit. The adapter is 1.25’ and works perfect.

Also did the cowl air intake for now. Works pretty good but I think I’m might seal up the cowl a little more, it got a little mud in there.

And that’s it for now

where is the air being taken from? the air dam area right under the windshield? looks good for the rest of it and a clean job for the intake, just confused on where the air is comin' from.

Wow. That looks really good. The wheels look a bit big, but could just be the picture angle. How's the ride?

The cowl intake looks really good and well planned out. I'd be worried about water and crap getting in there, but I guess it's the same as a snorkel.

Keep it up!

Wheels looks large to me, but over all, it's sharp looking!

so pretty, wish mine looked like that

umm.. maybe this is a dumb question but how is the air getting to the motor? The intake hose from the throttle body is just hanging out there..

Here's some more pics of the cowl intake. I just posted some half- way done pic's. I still am going to seal up the cowl a bit more but here is the finished product... I like the way it sounds too. I switched the stock filter for a K&N.

I think the wheels will look better when I get bigger tires.

It drives really well. I just got it aligned yesterday. Here is were I’m at;

After I got it aligned yesterday I was going to do a T-Case drop just for a short term fix.

…….. You probably already know what I’m going to say …….

@#$@#$ those studs …errr

I got one out ok, after a little work. The second one no go.

-Tried the double nut trick w/heat

-Tried flatting the sides with the dermal and backing it out …no go w/heat

- Tried the easy out … that broke …err

- Tried drilling a hole though the stud, parallel and using a small screwdriver to back it out… no go.

So .. I put it back to stock hight. Sometime this week I’m just going to drill it out and re tap it with a new bolt

Here’s a pick of the demon bolt with the broken easy out (not so easy)…. I feel like this is the equivalent of giving the jeep a root canal.

While I was waiting for the alignment a fellow xj’er and I did a little driving, to end on a good note (I’m still pissed about that stud …errr)

This is my buddys jeep 3.5 RE/31 BFG AT's/JCR Front Bumper

Clean work, I know your woes for dropping the t-case!

Here’s some stock before pic’s of the jeep. There from the same day some friends, girlfriend and I put on the lift kit. Did a little Jeep’n first so everything was nice and muddy while we were working on it. Also, a few of my buddy’s YJ he just got and my 2009 Mopar water depth checker (ok it’s just my dog).

She's really thinking... "If I take a dump in his car... I probably won’t even get in that much trouble"
Which leads me to reason 512- why I should bed liner my interior floor.

But I think next I'm going ZJ brakes (from millhouse if no one buys them first).
I looked for a dana 44 for an XJ with no luck, so I think I’m going to keep the 8.25 and lock it and zj brakes, maybe some alloy shafts. So that, front aussie locker, and roof basket are on the list of next to do.

*Off topic* Project1 do you happen to live in Jacksonville because I thought I saw your jeep the other day.
