98 4.0 - what size are the external TORX cylinder head bolts ?

Hi,

The cylinder head bolts on my 98 4.0 are external torx. Not only is that unusual, but I think I need a deep socket version, which seems just impossible to find locally ( Maryland - DC - VA- any tips welcome ?) Before I order online , I would REALLY like to be sure of the size. Looks like between 12 and 13 M comparing standard 12 point sockets - so would that be an E-12 ???

Any confirmation or correction welcome.

Thanks

They're not external torx. They're just 12-point bolts that need a 12-point socket (much like the hub bearing bolts). Just did a head swap a couple of weeks ago, but can't remember the size. Sorry.

Yes, that is the correct answer - 12 point socket.

I would be happy to help with other questions - it was a big job ( for me) but actually pretty simple at each step.
