96 XJ build "Hybrid"

Got it in 09 with 200K on the clock.

First day specs:
Stock everything
rebuilt NP231 has 40k miles
4.0 I6
AW4
HP D30
Chrysler 8.25

I knew immediately that this stockmobile was not going to cut it.

Good work

Let's build that swing-out tire carrier soon. Getting a real welder (220v) tomorrow.

Love the red FRC in the background of the motor on the stand, I have a soft spot for them.

yesterday was spent welding the whole day. my sliders were only held on by the pinch seam and they bounced around a lot. now they feel like part of the jeep. pretty solid IMO

I'm not sure if the body panel can take all of the weight itself (even if reinforced), I would either tie into the bumper for additional support, or just build a bumper w/ a swingout. Those body panels are THIN.

They flex under the weight of my firestik.... dont know how well it will hold up. now if you were to tie them into a cage type mount that went inside to the floor... that might do it. May have to move the amp.

Im the guy who makes new gauges, check out our gallery at Teamadw.com

yeah my CB antenna flex that a little bit too but we're talking about sandwiching the whole lower quarter panel between two sheets of metal.. then gusseting it on the support side. like i posted on the other thread

this thread is more active, not too many people in the fabrication section.

Where did you get that cup-holder?

Did you build it?, if so how? - write-up?
