i did it myself at a buddy's house. its pretty straight forward. i already replaced the shocks prior to the lift so i already dealt with the broken upper shock bolts. and i pb blasted everything MONTHS ahead of time cause i was afraid of the leaf spring bolts breaking or seizing. with a good set of sockets and wrenches and beers you should be able to do it in a weekend. i couldve done it all in a day if i started early. but the work hours totalled id say 12 hours. let me know if you need help with anything. and good luck

had a blast at my club's event. my discos decided to give up on me after the obstacle course but just in time for the rti ramp which im sure helped me. scored a 650 and out flexed my buddy's xj with a 5.5" lift and tnt long arms. his shocks limited him from flexing more lol. i pick up my jks discos this friday. installed my apn header on fri. sounds amazing now. got some of the power back and i can already tell the difference in milage. pics up next

APN header install
so the night before our show, i decided to install my header that i ordered. i went with the APN header, heard of the great reviews, price and quality of the product so i went with it after waiting forever to fix my cracked exhaust manifold. it was $160 shipped to me and it got here fast.
so off to the install. i had my buddy Mike help me install it since hes got all the tools and a garage.

the goods

first thing your gonna want to do is mark everything with tape and label them for the reassemby later on. injectors wires etc. then just disassemble the intake and move it out of the way. then loosen the belt and disconnect the power steering pump and just move that aside. from there you can just start unbolting the intake and exhaust manifolds. use a lot of extensions. i belive we used 14mm for those bolts. then clean the surface of the head after removing the old gasket. pardon my dried and muddy engine bay.

the intake manifold set aside

once you have both manifolds removed look and compare. a world of difference.

the 1" crack on my manifold went completely around the pipe. yikes

reassembly is pretty straight forward. clean surfaces and reinstall new gasket and the donut seal.
at this time you can paint your new header with ceramic coating or hightemp paint. i did not. i also heard of people spraying the new gasket with cooper seal. you dont have to but some do. ive read of people having fitment issues with the intake manifold fitment witht he header. with bolted the 3 bolts for the header first, then the manifold bolts finger tight then torqued them to specs. we didnt had to take a chunk off the intake manifold to make it fit. some people grind it off but we didnt have power. we used hack saw and broke off the piece since its just soft aluminum.

fits like a glove

over all, sounds great, and i can feel the power that i lost back. the milage is already improved 10 times than before even on 33's. i extremley recomend this product. stay tuned

a little update since the header install. i put in $10 on monday. normally that would last me a day and a half and about 20+ miles worth. currently i have 33's and all stock gears. since monday and $10 of fuel, thats about 4gallons of fuel, it is now friday my odometer says 91 miles. i did the math and that means i got 24 miles to the gallon wow.

yesterday me and a buddy tackled putting my JKS quick discos. putting them on was a breeze. taking the old ones off, thats another can of worms we didnt want to open, but had to.
note to self fellow jeepers, wash your jeep lol. anything under my jeep looks like a found artifact with all the dirt and dried up mud. so the pics.
these are my old ones. i believ they are from 4wd hardware. the middle section is a pain to disconnect/reconnect. and the bushings dont really merit much movement to help ease the reconnecting process

disconnected to help somewhat with the removal

these helped

Mike felt the need to take a pic of my RTI ramp score.....o wait thats his. its just funny that we got the same score and his jeep is much bigger hah.

this part was kinda stupid on my part. completely forgot that these werent threaded in and a few whacks with the BFH got them out. im a retard.

my mechanic hard at work envying my rig lol

and TAH-DAH JKS discos installed. took no time whatsoever to install these. the greasable bushing makes disconnecting/reconnecting a breeze. i might actually disconnect when i wheel now.
o and while i wasnt looking Mike decided to wax half my hood

so i had to even it out

at least my hood is now waxed while the rest of the rig is dirty and muddy.
this is somewhere under the jeep

Lookin pretty good,
My lift kit came with extended sway bar links, and since i cant afford the JKS discos, or the "quicker discos" , I was thinking of modifying mine to work kind of like what you had in there before, maybe with a couple improvements tho. But nice score on the JKS upgrade!
