96 Cherokee Sport - Fuel Issues

I have a 96 Cherokee Sport, 5 speed 4 wheel drive 2 door with the 4.0 straight 6 with 205,000 miles, and lately its been acting like an injector was stuck open. When it warms up it would have a really rough idle and alot of black smoke was comming out of the tail pipe. but the fuel pressure was good. I have tried running SeaFoamŪ though it and a fuel injector cleaner through the tank. Just the other day it set off a check Engine light for a P0171 code, system running to lean. I think it may be a dirty MAP sensor? or maybe a shorting out upstream 02 sensor? just looking for some other oppinions so i dont go replacing all injectors and have it not be the case.

The most common causes would be a failing O2 sensor, or a leaky exhaust manifold.

If the O2 sensor is the original, replace it. Check the exhaust manifold for cracks, if cracked, replace it. Cracked manifolds are very common.

P0171 JEEP - Fuel System 1/1 Lean

Symptoms
- Check Engine Light ON
- Excessive Fuel Consumption

Possible causes
- Intake air leaks
- Faulty front heated oxygen sensor
- Ignition misfiring
- Faulty fuel injectors
- Exhaust gas leaks
- Incorrect fuel pressure
- Lack of fuel
- Faulty (MAP) sensor
