95xj, having trouble starting
I drove home the other day, turned off the jeep and tried starting it again and it wouldnt. Ive noticed lately that it takes longer and longer to start up likes it not getting power. I jumped it and she started right up. Today i put it in neutral and it started but barely. I also noticed that my voltage is running a little high, around 15 or 16 volts. Im 17 and have little experience with electrical stuff so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Its not the battery, it wont even start with it hooked up to the battery charger. I was thinking it was the starter so i pulled it and ran up to Oreillys, they said it didnt sound good but it passed the test. So i dont know what the hell is wrong.

Start with verifying your electrical.
1. Remove battery terminals. Clean them and the battery posts until shiny. Freshening all engine grounds (remove, clean, reattach) is never a bad idea. 2. Still problematic? Take it to a shop that can perform a LOAD TEST on the battery and verify your alternator. You should be around 14.4 volts on the voltage gauge with the engine at a high idle. 3. Check for battery voltage AT the starter itself with your ignition key in the ON position. It should be approximately 12 volts. If it isn't, you need to start tracing your way back into the engine bay to find out why.

Ok, load tested the battery and tested alternator, both fine. Already cleaned the terminals but the starter was covered in mud/oil so ill clean it up when i put it back on tomorrow. Ill replace the battery wires, its probably due for a new cap and rotor too. Hopefully she'll be running tomorrow I'm tired of bumming rides.
