Xj 92 Wrangler YJ parts interchangeable w/ Cherokee?

I currently have a 92 Wrangler that has some major rust problems. Had her 15 yrs, but I know she's coming to an end soon. My question is, I'm interested in getting a Cherokee instead. Is there a series/year were I can swap out some of/or maybe all of my parts from my 92 into a Cherokee?

I was recently looking at a 2001 Cherokee but a friend stated that he didn't think the parts were interchangeable (although both are an inline 6) b/c the 01 model had some changes done to the sensors.

Any suggestions are welcomed.

The engine block will swap, but not much else. If you find a Cherokee with a blown engine, you could fix it.
