92 Cherokee (Newbie)
I'm looking at a 92 Cherokee that's offered at $2800.
As this is my 1st experience with a Jeep i'd be interested to know what the model's good + bad points are. It's got 150k, new rubber, almost cherry interior, but needs front pads(at least,as it pulls on moderate braking) and the front end seems a little sloppy. How do the front suspensions hold up? Are the calipers a bear to remove & bleed? Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

I love my 92. It's got about 127.5K on it (halfway throught it's life
) and it runs great. I have only had to replace brakes or tires and front joints on it as of yet (and a steering stabilizer, but the stabilizer was under wtty). Other than that, it handles great. My steering has no play though, heh. It feels great after an alignment ![]() As for bleding brake lines, possibly someone else can help you out, I cant. Check the engine mounts too though, those go bad on older cars/trucks/Jeeps |

The front end being a little sloppy is probably nothing, just a little driving it and you wont notice it anymore, just may take some getting used to. Front suspensions are great! Caliper's are normal two bolts holding them to the rotor and rotors slide right off so nothing diffrent than any other vehichle. Bleeding is the same as any also.

Something to look out for...
Today I went to get a hitch installed and my frame was too rusted for one. I see you live in the nY are, just check for rust. This is the only part of my frame that has any rust, too. Damn it to hell ![]() |

Check out the Ujoints on the front for ware. Also jack up the front end and grab the tire at 12 O'clock and 6 O'clock and see if there is any play in it as you push the top back and bottom forward, and vise versa. Should not be any play.
If the rotors are bad it would give you more of a vibration in the front and less pull. See if the owner will drop the price by the price of a front end alignment, one less thing for you to have to worry about.
