92 5 speed 231 to 242 swap

Well as the title says i want to swap my 231 for a 242.
So ill have ft4x4 when it snows. It seems possible from searching, but according to this site, .........
http://www.bentframe4x4.proboards.com/thread/1388
..........
I need an np 242 from an early 93 zj?or a 91-95 xj? But which one, or do they both work? Which one with proper input shaft size?
First it says "all xjs have .750 input shaft size"
Then it says "1994-93 np242j pt#umt209-2 has the 1.550
1995-93 np231j pt#umt207-9 has the .750
all other grand cherokee's have the .84 shaft BUT BEWARE OF SPLINE CUT AND SPEEDO HOLE"

"1993-1995 DTS207-1 NP231J 23 Spline input 27 spline ear slip output tow piece tail shaft housing, fixed front yoke tow wire shift indicator above shift lever 1.750" speedo hole, .750" exposed input shaft

1991-1995 DTS208-3 NP242J Select-Trac, 23 spline input, 27 spline rear slip, .750" exposed input shaft, fixed front yoke, tow piece tail shaft housing, w/1.750 exposed input shaft, fixed front yoke, tow piece tail shaft housing, w/1.75" speedo hole, tow wire shift indicator in speedo housing
1993-1995 DTS207-1 NP231J 23 Spline input 27 spline ear slip output tow piece tail shaft housing, fixed front yoke tow wire shift indicator above shift lever 1.750" speedo hole, .750" exposed input shaft

1991-1995 DTS208-3 NP242J Select-Trac, 23 spline input, 27 spline rear slip, .750" exposed input shaft, fixed front yoke, tow piece tail shaft housing, w/1.750 exposed input shaft, fixed front yoke, tow piece tail shaft housing, w/1.75" speedo hole, tow wire shift indicator in speedo housing

1989-1992 DTS207-6 NP231J 23 Spline front input 2 spline slip rear two piece tail housing, 1.75" speedo hole two wire indicator switch in speedo housing fixed front yoke, .750" exposed input shaft

1989-1992 DTS207-6 NP231J 23 Spline front input 2 spline slip rear two piece tail housing, 1.75" speedo hole two wire indicator switch in speedo housing fixed front yoke, .750" exposed input shaft"
And other people say there all the same!
I just want a clear answer, before i buy a tcase.
Tia!!!

Cliffs.... 231 i have now has a .750 23 spline input, and all xj 242s have 1.750 input shaft? Dosent make sense, but early 93 zj 242 has correct input shaft? I thoutght they are the same as xj?

This is what I know from experience...
87-90 21 spline input
91's depend on what month and what they had on hand
92-95 23 spline input

I used a 90 trans in my 92. I got a 95 zj 231 and had to swap input shaft. No biggy.
Now I run a rubi case.
