91 Radiator in a 89 Cherokee will it fit?

I have a chance of getting a radiator for a 91 at a very good price, but will it fit my 89 XJ? Will I have to drill new holes? Has anybody done this before and is it worth it?

Nope. The 89 is a closed system where the 91 is an open system.

You would have to change all of your hoses, HCV, get an overflow bottle, and get a rad cap.

Edit: I wil check if my rad has trans lines. If it does, You can have it if you pay for shipping. Anything from 87-90 will (should with trans cooler lines) fit.
I will be doing a write-up on it, when I am done the interior/bedline write up.

I have seen a few write ups on this and have seen 1 in person. I am looking into starting to collect the pieces needed to do this on my 89 and 90.
- Radiator
- Overflow bottle
- Heater by-pass
- Heater hoses
The one I saw he had to cut the radiator support to fit the radiator fill tube.

Here is one of the write ups..

The upgrade would be sweet. Gonna go to the junk yards to see how all the parts go on a 91 verses an 89.

Like said, it will work, just with modification. I recommend it. The closed system is good when it works, but it will give you problems eventually....They always do.
