89 was running rough now is fine.

I was in town with my 89 cherokee. Made a couple of stops. Towards the end of my trip the jeep started stuttering during accelaration. I pulled into a mcds drive thru and it was running really rough and acted like it wanted to stall out. I left it in nuetral when i could and kept it running. I made it through and got back on the road. For a time it was hard to accelerate and stuttered a lot. I babied it along for a while and by the time I got home it seemed to be running fine.

Took it for a drive this morning without any issues.

Any ideas what could have caused this? It sat for a time but I have been driving it for about a week without any issues until yesterday.

Thanks
BIH

Impossible to say for sure. If you think it's the engine, then possibly a sparkplug or injector malfunction that cleared up. If/when it does it again, and if it's safe to pull over, do so. Open the hood and see if it's idling rough as though a cyl is misfiring. If so, disconnect one of the injector connectors and see if it's worse or the same. If worse, does it get better when reconnected (although maybe not fixed)? Do one at a time. If you find one that makes no difference, you've isolated the cyl.
