87 cherokee no power

my wife called me yesterday on her way home from work and told me she had no power. it wouldn't even idle. she was low on gas, but not enough to warrant a no fuel issue. its missing and backfiring and today i had it running for a few but even at WOT it just bogged down and died. and now the battery is dead as well. any ideas???

we really need to get this rig going again as my wife isn't comfortable driving a stick which is what my 4runner is. thank god mom had an auto car we could borrow.

figured it out. air leak in the pickup tube in the tank. put some more gas in and she screamed. even got the one tire fire going. now the fun part of dropping the tank and fixing it again.
