Its not feasible at all, but I think you should go for it. It could be the coolest thing we've ever seen.

You won't find a better motor than the Cummins 4BT, Cummins is no joke. Extremely easy to squeeze tons of Torque out of the 12Valve Cummins. No electronics and one of the toughest diesels ever designed, in my opinion. the 4BT is basically the 12v 5.9L missing two cyl. making it a 4 cyl. Edit : well there are electronics, but no computer. The 12v can run with no batteries if that helps clear things up. You may find this interesting. http://www.4btswaps.com/forum/index.php

Last year I was rolling down I-10 outside Biloxi, MS. I passed a truck that was duelly front and rear. An 8x8. I remember thinking wow what a waste of time and money. He could barely keep it on the road, but it was pretty cool. I say if you have the time and money to blow on an entirely unpracticle project then go for it. I would suggest the Cummings and just because it's a four cylinder doesn't mean it's small. There have been other threads on the forums that cover diesel swaps. I'd do a search. The VW motor would be a dog IMO. Especially with an extra axle. What axle combo you thinking of running in the rear?
I assume your talking about running acetone in 93 octane gas? I've never run acetone, but I have run a toluene mixture. It's not just a straight mix. You'll have to add some other additives. If this is what your talking about what are you running it in? I used to run it in my dirt bike, but not a stock one, and definitely not a stock 4.0

It's fixable, and hardly destroys the engine.

The ISB is an intereference engine right?
Ive heard stories about it and how they mde an aftermarket solution, but its hard to believe the pin could mess up the cam and crank gear causing the timing to be off.
