Are you being serious? Have you ever even seen a Cat engine in person?

i was gonna say, theyre huge, unless he talking about a different kind of engine. or maybe the new ones theyre putting in fords, but even then itll cost an arm and a leg and be completly useless. not to mention i dont think they are even out yet
to the OP, can u explain a little more what you are trying to do!

More than likely, waaay to big and way to much HP/Torque. Depending on the size, maybe not even fit into the bay, and a stock front end would never support it. If you want to go diesel, look at the Cummins 4BT. I don't know of anyone that has put one into the XJ, there are some problems with fitment, it's a tall engin and either you lose ground clearance or have to raise the hood.

6x6 as in adding another axle, moved by the engine of course. and diesel hmm..maybe a 4 cyl turboed. since you guys are mentioning size restraints? i want lots of torque, and some better gas mileage. im figuring if i go in water or something the diesel will behave better.

imo, if u dead set on a diesel, go with the Cummins like said before, then spend your money on a set of beefier axles and toss in some lockers. the shorter wheel base of the XJ doesnt really allow for another axle anywhere. youd be better off putting your money somewhere else
