5spd cherokee engine fit automatic(duh) grand cherokee?

I am looking to buy something that's 4x4 and found a 93 grand cherokee 4x4 for $500 and was wondering if a 5-speed transmission out of a cherokee or something else would go into the grand cherokee? I don't like automatics at all. TO confusing to work on. And not relieable enough.

Please let me know.

Also, are the 93 grand cherokee's bad trucks? Or should I look for newer on the grand? I know the 1990 or so cherokee's are ok.

Thanks in advance.

If you look really really hard its possible to find a 5 speed grand, they only made a couple in 1993. My friends dad has one, I was amazed the first time I saw it.

that still doesn't answer my question.

Plus I don't wanna get a manual that came in it if there's only a few thousand made. I would prolly just have to replace it later.

It uses the same 5-speed that the Cherokee's use. So it wouldn't be a big deal if you had to replace it.

And swapping an auto to a manual is alot of work. There's a writeup on here that someone did a while back swapping from a auto to a manual in a cherokee. Do a search for it.
