$50 for ZJ rear discs

my local junkyard has a few zjs with the rear discs still in them, person there said $25 bucks a side for everything, not bad at all. i was wondering if i can use the ebrake cables the zj uses. also all i really need to do is just pull the shafts and a few bolts right?

It's been a while since I did my conversion, but I "THINK" the ZJ parking brake cables may be too short to work on an XJ.

What I did was to take the parking brake levers from the ZJ, and onto them, weld the end of the levers from the XJ drum parking brake (the one that attaches to the trailing shoe.) That allowed me to connect the XJ cables to the ZJ parking brake levers.

now as far as taking the brake system off the zj, should be pretty straight forward and easy right?

Yes, just ubolt the caliper bracket/backing plate, unto the hydraulic and cables connections, and grab the discs, and away you go.

Jim, that's a great price. I just paid $200 for a complete ZJ D44A (disc to disc) and the proportioning valve. I figure once I pilfer the brakes off it, I can sell the leftovers and make a few bucks back on it. It's good if you can take everything apart yourself, so you have an idea of how it goes back together; that's why I bought the whole rear. I can disassemble it when I have the time, clean everything up, and put them on my XJ when I'm ready.

You should be able to just use your stock parking brake cable, loop it around the lever arm on the ZJ brakes, then cable clamp it.

Yes, it's a little more involved though. You'll need to redrill the backing plate to bolt to your axle housing ends, and you'll need to either make a spacer for the retainer plate on the axle, or get some TJ Rubicon retainer plates and redrill them, but yeah, it'll work.

Will these work on a 97 TJ and if so could you pick me up a set set. I'll pay you some labor and shipping via paypal. Can't find that stuff that cheap here in japan. Also is the bolt patern the same as a 97 TJ? Thanks, Kent
