5.O mustang motor in a jeep?

well i have an 88 jeep limited with a straight six in it. what i was wondering was is there any possible way a 5.0 302 out of an 89 mustang fit in it. the jeep has over 300,000 miles on it and is about to give out soon, i think is would be sweet to have that motor in it. would it work? what would all have to be replaced thanks...

People have done a 350 swap in XJ's before, so a 302 would definatly fit.

But, Im very sure that you also have to swap the transmission, which also means getting adaptors for the transfer case if its 4wd, and probaly a new correct length driveshaft as well. I could be wrong, someone may sell adaptors but Im not sure.

If the entire setup has 300K miles on it, the V-8 won't be the best thing for them. However, mounting replacements along with the new engine might be easier than an enitre new drivetrain.

I think that you could get a 5-600$$ engine from a junk yard, if it is the same age meaning pre HO you should be able to get it in and running in no time. CHEAP too!!. with a new fuel pump you might even get a pre 96 engine.

I think you will need
Radiator
drive shafts
motor mounts
tranny
tcase adaptor
Computer b/c it is prolly tbi

Fuel pump should work if same psi is required. Hope that you can have a hydrolic shop mate your new power steering pump to your steering box.

A stroker would even work better if you want the power. don't forget emmisions

What about all of that smog junk?

Edit: I assume that it's a daily driver.
