4X4 front axle problem 93 Cherokee sport

I have a 93 Cherokee sport 4.0 high output 6 cylinder. Before I got it there was an axle replacement and it seems that it is for a different 4x4 setup. I don't know if it would be easier to find an original axle and install that or to convert over to a new 4x4 setup. My problem is that I don't know what year the new axle is or if I will even be able to find an original axle.

I have the dm 30. I will put up pictures soon tho. As of now I have no capability of 4wd. I think the axle is for a different type of 4wd than the original.

Other than having a vacuum disconnect axle with no vacuum source or having the wrong gear ratio, any dana 30 axle should be compatable as long as it came from a TJ, XJ, YJ, ZJ, MJ. If it is a vacuum disco axle you can fix it to where it will work in 4wd without a vacuum source.

I don't know much about this. If I'm right the jeep is vacume hookup but I think the axle is something else

looks like the vacuum disco d30... I would just look into getting a High Pinion dana 30 from a 92-96ish xj and that will take care of your issue stronger and its a direct swap.

You can manually lock the axle and it will not hurt anything, the newer ones came from the factory with a solid axle and locking your vacuum axle will givethe same results.

You can do it this way.

I did finally get the posi lock kit. And found out that my gear ratios are off. I am currently looking into a junkyard that will have my ratio which is a 3.55. I now understand this stuff Alittle more than I did before
