4.88s for an 8.8

Hey guys...

I picked up an 8.8 out of a 2000 explorer to swap with my stock dana 35 and I have 35 inch tires and a lift kit waiting to be bolted on. I knew that I would have to re-gear from the stock 3.55s and based on my research 4.88s would be the closest to stock with the 35s. My problem is that none of my local sources seem to be able to track down the 4.88s for the 8.8 (I live in southern Ontario), 4.88s for the dana 30 seem to be available.

This leads me to 2 questions, Keeping in mind that my knowledge of differential gears is limited... What should I look for if I order the gears from a website like Summit Racing? or Should I just bite the bullet and go for gears in the neighbourhood of the 4.88s (most likely 4.56) which my local sources can get?

Not sure if it's too late and if you already got your gears or not, but there is always a listing on eBay for motive gears, it is a listing which includes 4.88 gears for the front d30 and rear 8.8 with master install kits for both axles. It is $498 shipped to your door. If you go on eBay and search "Jeep 8.8 Dana 30 4.88" it should pop up. I have been planning on getting them but not quite ready yet, I'm still trussing mine and setting up the 8.8 but they are the best deal I have seen anywhere.

Thanks, getting everything in one package would be very convenient, any idea about the quality of these gears? I see that motive has a website which is encouraging.

Motives are good gears, no doubt.
