3" would be the MAX for a relocated track bar...

if your going 4.5" you would need to invest in an adj. trackbar...

check out iron rock offroad...

At 3" yout stock track bar is to short. Id put $ on your axle not being centered. May look like it is from a quick glance but if you measure, im sure it's not. Even a 1/2" off can make a big difference. Dont install the lift till you have the new track bar. You do have new lower control arms right? While you can get away with stock uppers id strongly advise you change them to

I'm still usin the stock track bar wit a redrilled hole on the axle...it workd til I wheeled it....now the hole is wallowed out bad an pops pretty good...I'd recommend a ask now. Look for a good used 1 on craigslist, eBay an here. I found a good Rustys for 75 shipped. Saved a good chunk a change

Your have control arms also right? You can get away with stock uppers even though its not a good idea however you have to change the lowers. Thats not optional

uhh yeah it is "optional"you can go up past 6" with the factory arms, although it would like like crap
man go ahead with the lift...just because your wheels are off center you can stll get an alignment..

half these people only repeat what they hear on this forum and have no real life experience with it

Can you post a quick picture of a 6" lifted XJ on stock arms? I would like to see it, but would hate to ride in it.

I ran 6" of lift with a stock track bar, re-drilled. My axle was off center and it drove so/so. You can get away it for a little while, but your tires may wear a little funny.

Stock track bar and torn LCA mount repaired, 6" of lift, short arms.

Pic shows stock track bar, torn mount, LCA angle, and 31" BFG MT at 12psi.
