Oh, and I also took this putty crap I found at Walmart to temporarily seal the sunroof. I just put it over the seal on the outside. It's for sealing drafty windows and whatnot. It's just to keep the water out until I eventually fix it correctly. Hopefully it'll do the trick. So, for now the sunroof is inop to keep it sealed.

I just posted this up in one of my other threads, but thought I'd add it here as well.... It's 1am and I need to be up for work in 4 hours. FRICK... I'm going to be dead and have a long day ahead of me tomorrow, but can't sleep...
Ok...so if I don't put $2000-$2500 into a 3rd vehicle I'd rather save up and do something similar to this to the HEEP.... Alright... I've taken a break from drooling over lifts and big tires and dreaming
and actually decided to work on the HEEP today instead of sitting on me arse.I pulled the NSS. It was FILTHY, so I hit it up with some carb cleaner, lightly sanded the contacts, slapped some grease in there, and re-installed it. Ladies and gentlemen......the HEEP now has reverse lights Oh well.... ![]() I also tried to figure out why my sppedo wasn't working. I pulled the gauge cluster to see if something was loose. It all looked good back there, so I removed the speed sensor and speedo gear. The gear looked fine, so I re-installed that and did some more searching on here. All I could find was that it might be the VSS or a bad ground. Ground sounds like an easy check, so I found out that it's on the passenger's side of the motor behind the distributer cap. When I popped the hood and looked at it I saw that the whole area around that ground was FILTHY. It's all covered in cruddy oily crap. A little carb cleaner and light sanding once again........and.......THE SPEEDO WORKS ![]()

Do NOT use the rough country rock sliders. They are only held on by a few self tapping bolts into the unibody. Be sure to get sliders that attach to the pinch seam as well.... heck, if its a beater, just cut out the rockers and throw in some 2x6 box tube. Also, i think you want a D35 and D30 diff cover... not two d35's ![]() Also, consider waiting a little bit on the lift.. Rough country is coming out with a long arm lift kit in late november. Keep up the good work! |

Oh, yeah.... the lift is down the road. I don't have the cash for it. I'm actually hoping someone will be taking off a lift to go bigger and look to sell their old stuff. That's about where my budget is.
As for rock sliders.... did you see the ones I posted about before? Are then better. I'll look up the pics and post them again. The only problem is that I don't have any mounting hardware. If someone could tell me what I need to mount them and that they're better then I'll pick them up. The guy just wants $90 for them..... let me know.... pics coming in 2 min. and yeah, I have no clue what parts are on my HEEP....Dana 30, 35 872 1/2 ....hahahaha I need to check it all out and learn what's what. Also, I call it my beater, but it IS my DD, so it needs to look half decent, so no to your slider suggestion. ![]()

looks like all it needs is 8 self tapping bolts (for the c-channel/angle iron) and 4 bolts and nuts (flat side/shackle box mount).
That design is much better than Rough Countrys. And cutting out your rockers and replacing it with box tube actually looks very clean. You gain alot of clearance too. EDIT: also you will need some nuts and bolts for the pinch seam. Probably 5 per side or so. |

Yeah.... I just don't know when I'd have time to drive down to Wilmington to pick them up.
If YOU cut out my rockers and replace them with box tube it might look very clean, but if I did it I think the outcome may be slightly different. ![]()

I just went out to read my CEL codes. I got ....
12 - memory erased 27 - injector control circuit...blah, blah, blah 15 - no signal from the VSS (maybe because I was messing with it today and got the speedo working?) 41 - some crap about the charging system Now time to search on here and figure out what all that babble really means for me and what to do about it all.
