I'm a lazy bastard and haven't touched it. I STILL haven't even posted pics up on here showing my new front bumper (at least I got it installed though )Give me until Monday and I'll see what I can get done on the HEEP. The floors might be on hold, because I might have a guy up in Raleigh that will weld them in for me. We'll see.... Thanks for having my back Talentjeep and Hussler ![]()

Wow...
I stopped following you for a while back there, because you would fill multiple pages in a day.. If I missed a day I wouldn't know what was going on, so I stopped reading. Picked it back up a few days ago, much better now! I dont know what you jeep looks like now though, I dont know if you did stuff while I stopped paying attention, lol. Good luck with the floor pans whenever you get around to welding them in. If I were anywhere close I would give you hand, some advice, or do it for ya! Lifetime member, pssh... lol.

I'll pick it back up here in a bit when I actually DO WORK
![]() Actually.... while I'm in here ....... I have two issues that I've just been ignoring. What does it mean if it pulls pretty hard to the right when braking? I've been meaning to inspect/replace the brakes. Is that all that probably needs done? When I first start moving there is no noise, but then after moving a VERY short distance it sounds like someone dropped chains under the HEEP and then it kind of "jingles" a bit off and on. It's annoying as hell. It sounds like it's either coming from the rear driveshaft arear or possibly the rear wheels hook me up with some possibilities and what I can do to check everything out.![]()

hey koolaid, this thread is worthless without the pics, ya know???
![]() The pic update thing is the ONLY reason i don't have build threads for my 96 xj and my newly aquired 98xj. some of these guys won't let you live down a thread with no pics, hahhahaa no pun intended. P.S. if you guys do start a flintstone floor thread, count me in............lemme see if i can dig up the pics, you guys haven't seen rotten floors yet....................

I'm actually going to eventually put together an ACTUAL build thread whit all just pics and brief descriptions of the progress along the way. This one is a WHOLE lot of problem solving, my stupid questions, and just BS

Hey koolaid--- on your questions
-pulls to right-- check where the brake pads slide on the cliper bracket, they have a tendency to wear into the slides. The grooves then catch the pads and hold em tighter to the rotor and cause a grab or pull. might even cause the brakes to stay slightly engaged. Or it could be a caliper or restricted brake hose, but leaning towards the worn slides, see it A LOT! --chain noise-- check both rear brakes for broken springs or hardware. Had the same thing happen on mine and it was a broken self adjuster cable inside the drum rolling around. _let me know what ya find. just some ideas for ya!

So, for the brakes you're saying I'll need to replace the front pads or are you saying it's a piece in the caliper or what? All I've ever done to breaks is replace pads and brake lines (not on the heep at all yet though).... anything beyond that is new to me. I don't know if my "jingle" noise could possibly be from something like the self adjuster. It seems like it's too much noise for something that minor. I HOPE I'm wrong though.

On the front brakes-- Its the caliper bracket, what the brake pads slide into and then you slide the caliper OVER the brake pads. Where the pads ride on the slides (out at the ends of the brake pads) the pads wear into the slides and eventually wear a lower spot than the rest of the slides. So when the pads are replaced or worn down the slides are a different thickness than where they normally ride. Its kinda hard to explain, so if I get time I will try and take pics of my frankenheap to show ya what I am talking about.
--by the way, posting pics of the floor carnage on my xj next in my BS thread, check em out if ya get time ![]()
