wicked xj. my buddy wants to get a toy/people hauler for when we go places (currently the two biggest vehicles in our group of friends are my buddy's suburban and then my yj at a close second)

i should show him this thread.

and on your knock, i would drive it till it drops the 4.0 is a tuff little motor. i knew a guy that bought a blazer with the 2.8 that had a knock. drove the piss out of it for three years and then sold it still running. its all in the motor. keep up on oil changes and don't be flirting with the red line it should last you till spring.

Thanks for the compliment. Little feedback like that helps me keep going

I'm guessing you just found my thread and only skimmed through it. The "knock" was due to low oil pressure, which I eliminated by installing a new HV oil pump. I never really LET it knock though. It would only do it when hot and idling below 1000 rpms. I would just sit with a foot on the brake and the other on the gas at lights to keep it from knocking until I got the pump replaced.

I'm so jealous... no snow here

The floor project has been at a standstill. I've been dealing with family stuff, erupting kid for two days, and work. I work tonight, but have off Wed-Thurs nights, so I'll see how much I can get done while the kids are at school. Weekday evenings are just too hectic though. The goal is to at LEAST get the small patches out of the way and sealed up and primed. If that goes well I'll move to the floor pan installations. I need this rain to stop though, because I'm not spraying in the garage.

At first I'm just going to use sheet metal screws for all of this, but I decided to pick up a cheap welder to install them properly. So. I won't be spraying the bedliner until that is done.

Oh, and now I see that my hatch leaks pretty bad, so I want to get that fixed as well..... Just one thing after another

No actual updates for today, but I DID get some TJ mirrors in the mail.... I'm not totally sure what I'm doing with those yet. I also got these lights...

Google Image Result for http://www.gorampage.com/images/products/RAM/RAM_5083052.jpg

I got them new in the box with all the wiring for $40 off of CL. It's not the GREATEST deal, but it saved me about $15 or so. I got them to put on the new front bumper, but now I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them.

Oh, and I also heard back from the company I got the floor mats from and they are going to be sending me the return info. Not sure what I'm going to do about floor mats now. I want something that covers most of the floor, is durable, easily cleaned, and is a softer rubber. If I can't find something like that I might just go with Husky floor liners like I had in the TJ. You might think it's stupid to put those in after spraying the floor with bedliner, but I want to put SOMETHING down and it makes clean-up a little easier.... ah, crap.... maybe I wont' put anything down What do you guys think?

I think I have those same floor mats. I was looking to pick up something that had more of a custom fit, but I'm thinking of holding off on those though. Not exactly a priority.

Now I just need someone to come to my place to give me a kick in the arse to get to work on the damn floor

TOO late... I woke up at 11am and just sat in my recliner watching mindless tv and hanging out on the computer. When I just got this message I was actually on CL looking at boats I need to quit thinking about OTHER projects and finish this one.

Too late though. The wife is home and I'm heading to get a shower and de-nastify myself. Not sure I'll make it out to the HEEP today, but I might get up earlier tomorrow and do a little bit. I might ask the wife if I can drive her minivan back and forth to work this weekend since I work Friday through Sunday. That way I don't have to have the HEEP ready to go to work every night by 6pm and can let stuff dry on it overnight

Sounds like a plan

Haha, know the feeling!! Had two days off work cause of the 3 feet of snow we got and did nothing to the XJ but dream about working on it LOL. Did enjoy the time spent with my kids and wife, but the Xj still looks the same. Now we both need to get off our Duffs and get thrashing on these XJ's for spring
