3-4 inch lift questions ??
hey guys
im looking to make my jeep taller but i really dont have the money to buy an expensive lift kit. Currently I have a 2 inch budget boost from iron rock off road. im wondering if it would be possible to add another inch or two using the same type of spacers in the front and then by using a leaf spring lift block in the back. also if i could do this without buying new shocks springs. if this is way off can anybody show me were i could get a quality 3-4 inch lift kit en-expensively?

Well, i think almost everyone on here will tell you to definitely steer clear of blocks in the rear, my self included. Granted ive never had any experience with them, but still i wouldnt do it.. as for the front i wouldn't want to do too much more than 2 inches with spacers, but again, just my opinion. I know the popular choice in this area will always be rubicon express, its probably the best in quality and completeness but its just out of my price range, and it sounds like it might be out of yours as well. i would suggest Rusty's 3" with full leafs, and it comes with shocks so youre good there, i think i will be ordering that myself pretty soon, i have found it to be the best deal for the money, and most porple are very satisfied with Rusty's springs. there are tons of options for home made lifts around this hieght, you might try a search, because there are lots of threads about this stuff. Any way, this is all just my opinion on it, i know there are a lot of different ones out there on this, but i hope this helps

S-10 leafs and F-150 coils from the local pick & pull would be the cheapest , if you dont mind a rough ride.

I think you should wait until you can afford to lift the jeep before lifting the jeep. For 4" of lift you need new lower control arms, adjustable trac-bar, longer shocks, longer swaybar endlinks or disconnects, longer brakelines, and likely a slip yoke eliminator and cv driveshaft. Stacking spacers for 4" of lift is dangerous, 3" is really too much in my opinion. I would just wait and save some money then do it right. There are ways to get 3" of lift on a budget, but you can't stack two budget boosts without adding all the other neccesary components.

dont do the F150 coils.... that ruins your ride.... stick with coil pucks before you do that

Like XJfever said there is alot to consider when liffting any vehicle . I'm sorry if you missunderstood my previous post. Even a "complete" lift kit will not have all the necessary components to do it right . Do your research , decide what you want then buy pieces as you can until you have everything you need .

even though the "nice" kits are a little more expensive... i think it comes out to be cheaper in the long run.. my frist XJ had about 5 or 6 different lift setups on it..
save up an buy a nice long arm kit.. such as the BDS true four link kit

what i did with mine was went to fastenal and got a 4" washer with a 2" hole in the middle of it for the bump stops and welded a piece of 4" tube to the end and then put it in between my coil and the body on the front for a 4" lift and in the rear i did a bastard pack using the stock top leaf and the stock bottom leaf i sandwiched over a set of leaf springs from a chevy s15 blazer it gave me about 4" lift in the rear I think if I would only put 1 of the s15 leafs in there if i did it again because it is a little stiff in the rear but i have trailed it for about 2 years now with no prolems just a little clanking in the front from the control arms but thats because i havent lengthend my track bar i think total it cost me $27 buck the washers were 5 and the leaves were 22 thats with 50% off at u-pull-it in oregon
