2000 XJ Sport

I was wondering if the XJ Sport came in a 2.5 liter and a 4.0 liter. I ask because I don't have a label on the back of mine. I think it was ripped off. I don't have an owners manual. If it comes in both, how can I tell what mine is?

If you open up the hood, there should be 6 spark plug wires going directly into the left side of the engine (if looking head on). That would mean you have a 4.0, if there only is 4 wires, then it is the 2.5. Probably is a 4.0

ahem....

He has a 2000 which means there won't be any spark plug wires visable on his 4.0L (not sure on the 2.5L). So a better course of action would be to count the number of fuel injectors.

Your Jeep would also have a 4.0 badge on the tailgate.

yup, unless, as he suspects, the badge is missing.

count injectors, look at the coil paks/plugs, and count what's there.

another clue would be that with the 2.5, it'll look like an awful lotta space between the front of the engine and the front of the Jeep.

wasn't 2000 the last year any 2.5L's were put in XJ's? And even in 2000, it was really rare, I haven't seen many, unless it's an SE model. Rare on a sport. You'd be able to tell the drastic difference in turtle steez if you have the 4 banger, very weak/slow engine....
